The little village of St-Roman-de-Malegarde is situated in Haut Vaucluse, at the border of the northern department of Drôme, between Bollène and Vaison-la-Romaine. Due to its very fine location on the left bank of the Aygues river, St-Roman-de-Malegarde is a very suitable place to spend a holiday. Staying in St-Roman-de-Malegarde offers good opportunities for exploring the surrounding villages and for several outdoor activities in the beautiful and very mountainous countryside. The legendary Mont Ventoux is only 22 km southeast of St-Roman-de-Malegarde. It is a perfect location for walking and cycling.

St-Roman-de-Malegarde

The old part of the village in St-Roman-de-Malegarde is built on a hill.

It is a typical Provencal mountain village with narrow winding streets and charming old stone houses. In the village one can find a 13th century church whose facade is decorated with a sundial dating back to the 18th century and a Maltese cross. At the highest point of the village you will find the remains of the old château from the 12th century. Only three towers are left, and the middle one is from the old fortress.

No more than a few hundred people live in the village all year round, mainly wine-growers producing Côtes du Rhône wine.

In St-Roman-de-Malegarde you will find a few shops as well as a restaurant/bar.
