Northern Tuscany contains something of interest for everybody. The diversity of landscapes is huge; you will find marble quarries, nurseries, national parks, mountain ranges and beautiful beaches.
Further north, there is spectacular mountain scenery with some of the highest peaks reaching an altitude of 2000 meters or more. Here, there are rich opportunities to go in for sport e.g. biking, horseback riding and kite flying.
At the foothills of the mountains the land is covered by olive groves and here, some of Italy’s finest olive oil is produced. | |

To the northwest, there is the fantastic Versilian Riviera with the marble city Carrare, and Viareggio with some of Italy’s most elegant and popular beach resorts. Further south are the plains around Torre del Lago Puccini, where the composer Giacomo Puccini lived and where most of his operas were created. | |

Leaving the coast, heading east towards the centre of Northern Tuscany you will arrive at one of the most fertile areas of Italy, a region, specialised in horticulture: There is an important production of flowers for the flower market in Pescia, one of Europe’s biggest wholesale markets and a huge amount of nurseries producing trees and bushes. | |

In cities like Prato, Pistoia and Lucca you will be astonished by the many beautiful churches, interesting museums and outstanding art collections. | |
